Level I Catechesis
The young child, in level 1 (ages 3 to 6) needs love and to know God in their own way. They enjoy such things as gestures and exercises that they see adults do. They are developing their sense of freedom (think of the young child’s request, “I can do it myself”). They are learning physical coordination and responsibility. This is a sensitive time for order and developing confidence, as well as the need for a sensorial approach to learning.
Themes in the Atrium: Love of the Good Shepherd; Learning words and gestures of the Eucharist; Practical life skills; Mystery of the Parables of the Kingdom; and Prayer (as thanksgiving).
